Honda Motor Co., Ltd. was founded in 1948.  A driving force behind Honda's growth came from the leadership of it's founders:  Mr. Soichiro Honda and Mr. Takeo Fujisawa.  The most important thing the founders gave the company is the Honda philosophy.  It is this philosophy which serves as the basis of Honda's business endeavors past, present and future.

"Maintaining a global viewpoint, we are dedicated to supplying products of the highest quality, yet at a reasonable price, for worldwide customer satisfaction."

Soichiro                        Takeo

Honda                           Fujisawa

Founders Soichiro Honda and Takeo Fujisawa believed in creating a workforce where each member's ideas received the full consideration and respect of the group. People are diverse and that's a good thing, Mr. Honda believed, because diversity of thought, skills, background and experiences can enrich the workplace and the product, if the differences are allowed to generate ideas.

Respect for the Individual comes from a fundamental belief in the uniqueness of the human being.  The human being is born with the capacity to think, reason and create.  South Carolina Manufacturing strives to nurture and promote these unique characteristics in our company.

Honda's philosophy of respect for the individual includes the following three points:

Initiative - Associates at Honda should not be bound by preconceived ideas, but should think creatively and act on their own initiative and judgement, while understand they must take responsibility for the results of those actions.

Equality - Recognizing and respecting individual difference in one another and treating each other fairly.  We are committed to treating each individual fairly.

Trust - Relationships between associates should be based on mutual trust.  Trust is created by recognizing each other as individuals, helping out where others are deficient, accepting help where we are deficient, sharing our knowledge and making a sincere effort to fulfill our responsibilities.

The Three joys express Honda's belief and desire that each person working in, or coming into contact with the company, directly or through our products, should share a sense of joy through the experience.

The Joy of Buying - To experience this joy, customers need to receive a product that exceeds their expectations.

The Joy of Selling - Occurs when those who are engaged in selling and servicing Honda products develop relationships with customers based on mutual trust.  Through this relationship, Honda Associates, dealers, and distributors experience pride and joy in satisfying the customer.

The Joy of Creating - This occurs when Honda Associates and suppliers produce quality products that exceed customer expectations and experience pride in a job well done.
